Minor Surgery

Additional Mole

Assessment and removal of an additional mole during an agreed minor-surgery appointment.

Syno Health consultation room in London

About this service

This option applies when more than one mole is being considered for removal at the same appointment. Each lesion is assessed separately because the appropriate method, need for laboratory analysis and final fee may differ.

What the pathway covers

  • Review of the additional lesion before treatment
  • Confirmation that removal can be completed within the planned appointment
  • Discussion of scarring, wound care and whether histology is advised

Before your appointment

  • Tell the clinic if the mole has recently changed, bled or become painful
  • Bring details of relevant medication, allergies and previous skin procedures
  • Do not assume every additional lesion can be treated on the same day

Why every additional mole still needs assessment

More than one mole may sometimes be treated during the same planned visit, but each lesion must be assessed separately. Moles can differ in depth, diagnosis, location and suitability for a particular removal method. A price for an “additional mole” should not be taken as confirmation that every extra lesion can safely be removed.

The clinician will consider the number of lesions, total procedure time, anaesthetic requirements, wound closure and whether any tissue should be examined by histology. Treatment may need to be staged rather than completed in one appointment.

Planning recovery from multiple sites

Several wounds can mean more dressings, greater aftercare and restrictions affecting more than one area of the body. Each site will leave a mark and may heal at a different rate. Ask for a clear breakdown of procedure fees, histology charges and follow-up before consenting.

  • Identify exactly which lesions were agreed for treatment
  • Plan for dressings and possible stitch removal at every site
  • Report unexpected bleeding, discharge or increasing redness

Important to know

A changing or clinically concerning mole may require a different diagnostic or referral pathway rather than routine removal.
