About coaching

Coaching follows an initial assessment or an agreed plan. Sessions focus on what has happened between appointments, which changes have been workable and where the plan needs to be adjusted.

What sessions may cover

  • Reviewing food structure and routines in practice
  • Working through barriers to movement, sleep or meal planning
  • Setting one or two measurable priorities between sessions
  • Coordinating with clinical or dietetic care where required

How follow-up works

  1. Review progress since the previous appointment
  2. Identify what helped and what was difficult to maintain
  3. Adjust the plan to fit current circumstances
  4. Agree the focus and timing of the next review

Who may not be suitable

  • Urgent medical symptoms
  • Eating disorder support needing specialist care
  • Complex nutrition needs requiring specialist dietetic input unless arranged

Aftercare guidance

  • Track agreed goals realistically
  • Raise barriers early so the plan can be adjusted
  • Combine guidance with clinical reviews where advised

Common questions

Do I need an initial consultation first?

Yes, coaching should follow an assessment or a clearly agreed starting plan.

Can coaching accompany medical treatment?

It can support a clinician-led plan where roles and monitoring are clear.

How often are sessions?

Frequency depends on the agreed goals and the level of support needed.

Next step

Ask whether coaching fits your current plan.

The clinic can confirm whether to begin with an initial consultation or a coaching review.
